What is a 'Nicky'

A Nicky is a unique virtual and physical award presented by the Nicholas Pogose Foundation to honour exceptional achievements in education, technology, and sport.

Named after Nicholas Peter Pogose, a pioneer of private education in Old Dhaka, The Nicky celebrates students, teachers, volunteers, and community leaders who demonstrate excellence, creativity, leadership, or dedication in their field—whether online or on the ground.

History: As patron of mathematics, Nicky would donate 100 rupees to create a gold medal for excellence.

Why It Matters

The Nicky is more than an award—it’s a symbol of encouragement and aspiration, rooted in our mission to inspire the next generation. It helps us:

  • Motivate students and teachers to strive for excellence
  • Bridge the digital and real-world learning experience
  • Recognise consistent effort, talent, and impact
  • Build a culture of appreciation in education and sports

How It Works

Virtual Nicky Awards are given regularly throughout the year, recognising achievements in online learning, digital creativity, innovation in teaching, leadership, and youth sport.

Winners receive digital certificates and badges, and are featured on our website and platforms.

Physical Nicky Awards—including medals, trophies, or printed certificates—are delivered to standout individuals, schools, and community hubs at yearly awards.

Honouring Outstanding Teachers

The Nicky Awards is our flagship annual event, celebrating the most inspiring and impactful educators across Bangladesh. Each award is the result of a community-led nomination process, where teachers are voted for by students, peers, and parents—and carefully selected for their exceptional commitment to learning, innovation, and student success. We are currently seeking major education sponsors to help us elevate this prestigious event and provide lasting recognition to these remarkable teachers. Your support will not only help fund the awards ceremony but also offer training opportunities, resources, and professional development for our winners—empowering them to continue changing lives in classrooms across the nation.
